FAME's fabulous ASM tour

The Edwards and Dinsdale labs enjoyed a wonderful trip to Sydney to attend and present at the Australian Society for Microbiology’s annual conference. FAMEous researches enjoyed many inspiring and exiting talks from many Microbiologists across Australia and from overseas. Check out the FAME poster and talk slides here

Day 1 opened with some great public lectures at the Australian National Maritime Museum, followed by the ASM awards and orations. The day ended with the first of two poster sessions where FAMEous students presented their amazing looking posters!

Day 2 was a busy day for FAME, with presentations by Liz and Mike Doane (AKA fish-Mike). Friend of FAME and SA student award winner Claire Hayward, from Harriet Whiley’s lab, gave an amazing talk as well! Day 2 ended with the remaining posters and some much needed refreshments.

Day 3 was a far more relaxing day for the FAME labs and included a small trip to the nearby Friendship Gardens, a talk from SA student award runner up Susie, and a FAMEous group photo!

The conference ended with a bang on day 4 with FAMEous presentations by Mike Roach (aka virus-Mike), and Vijini! Amber won the best poster award and Laura managed to score a quokka! All in all, FAME presented 7 posters and gave 5 talks–a monumental effort that will be hard to beat!
